Leicester Leave It Late to Beat West Brom 2–1

Leicester City 2–1 West Bromwich Albion
5 January 2026 – EFL Championship
Venue: King Power Stadium

Leicester City secured a late victory over West Bromwich Albion in a closely contested Championship match.

Jordan Ayew gave Leicester the lead in the 18th minute after a positive start by the home side. West Brom responded well and equalised through Karlan Grant in the 34th minute, finishing confidently to make it 1–1 before half-time.

The second half was tight, with both teams creating chances but struggling to break each other down. Just as the match looked set to end in a draw, Abdul Fatawu scored in stoppage time (90+4 minutes) to give Leicester a dramatic 2–1 win.

The result earned Leicester three important points, while West Brom were left disappointed after conceding so late in the game.

This was a really entertaining Championship game to watch. Leicester showed good intent early on and deserved their opening goal, but West Brom reacted well and didn’t look overawed at all, especially after Grant’s equaliser. The match felt like it was drifting towards a draw, so Fatawu’s stoppage-time winner was a real gut punch for West Brom and a huge moment for Leicester. Games like this sum up the Championship perfectly — tight, unpredictable, and often decided right at the end.
