Everton 1–1 Sunderland (Sunderland win 3–0 on penalties): FA Cup Shock at Hill Dickinson

Here’s the latest confirmed result from the Everton vs Sunderland FA Cup Third Round match (10 January 2026):

Everton 1–1 Sunderland (Sunderland win 3–0 on penalties) after a dramatic cup tie at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

In what turned out to be a tense and gritty battle, Sunderland took the lead through Enzo Le Fée in the 30th minute, before Everton fought back to level late in normal time when James Garner scored from the penalty spot in the 89th minute. The match remained deadlocked after extra time, and a penalty shootout followed. Sunderland’s goalkeeper Robin Roefs was the hero, saving three Everton spot kicks, while Sunderland converted their first three — sending the Black Cats through to the FA Cup Fourth Round and ending Everton’s cup run.
